They rented a lovely house in Leland, a block from town and a block from the beach…perfect!!

Then and Now

Hawaii…ahhh, beautiful, amazing, uplifting! Can you tell that Hawaii is one of my favorite places in the world?

My hubby and I first went to Hawaii in ’72 and again in ’74…I know, I know…I must be ancient:)))  We absolutely loved everything about that beautiful place.

I did not go again…life got busy and family came first…until I decided to take my boys in 1999, after their dad died. I took my two with their best friends when they were 18, 19, 19, and 20. It was a gift to myself, remembering all the fun …because memories are one of the biggest gifts we can give ourselves!

It was such a pleasure to watch those boys enjoy Hawaii as much as F2 and I had.  Then, in 2004, I took my 2 guys again to just vegetate in Waikiki…beach time, sunshine, good food, and wonderful people!!

And now we just returned from a most delightful trip to Hawaii…my sons, and THEIR WIVES!!!  Hurray! They are all the best people in the world! Kind, compassionate, fun loving and positive! My guys really know how to pick them!!!

I am over the moon excited to spend time with them whenever I can..but to be able to share my favorite place with them was awesome, delightful, fantastic and every other positive adjective you can come up with. Love ‘em all!!!

So here we go with the ‘then and now’ of photos…some are from slides from the first 2 trips so the quality may be shaky, but we’re working on memories here folks. It’s all good! Mixed up…old and new photos from Hawaii! Enjoy!!

some new…

some more old…

…and new…

a few more old…

yes…this is the same banyan tree!!!

and now…

I hope you enjoyed this small sampling of my Hawaiian memories!!

The Hawk

Hawks are fantastic birds…beautiful, mysterious, fierce, able to slowly soar through the air or to execute amazingly swift dives after what they are looking for! They were favorites of F2 and remind me of him whenever I see them. The qualities of the hawk are quite similar to the qualities of F2:)))

On our recent trip through Europe, I saw a hawk on the first day in Prague…it was riding on the shoulder of a man just walking through a square:

and then there was a beautiful bird in the square of the Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest at the end of our travels:

I felt like F2 was with me throughout the trip….love the feeling!!

Memories of Put-in-Bay

So….a bachelor party at Put-in-Bay???  No, not Scott’s…but he did attend one recently. It brought back some memories of the great fun we used to have when we took our boat and spent the night at the Crews’ Nest Marina. We toured the island, swam in the pool, and enjoyed sleeping on the boat…conveniently named Freddie and the Dreamers!

Scott would have had this look long ago when figuring out what the partiers were doing at the main marina…

But at that time we were having our own party!!

Both on the boat and off!

Memories of great times…always wonderful!!

End of Summer??

Children…summer fun!! And then so soon it’s time for school to begin again….

So much fun over the years….little guys, big guys…doesn’t matter! Back yard, on vacation, alone or with friends. Michigan is a beautiful place to PLAY!

But then, back to a new, fresh year of learning in school! Exciting for most…ready for friends and new classrooms!

If you still have a few days of summer left…enjoy them:))

For those of you back in school, enjoy those days, also!!!

Summer Fun??

Now that the kiddies are home for the summer….have some fun with them!! And use those teachable moments along the way…

A quote from Billy Graham makes perfect sense to me:

“A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.”

Here is a link to some fun summer ideas…  fun!

summer…whether you go away, stay at home, spend money or spend none…find the littlest things that will make you happy!! Remember to take photos because the memories become the best part of summer:))
