Super Saturday #38

Hurray for Super Saturday #38…

Beautiful things, exciting things, inspiring ones…I’ll share with you those things that bring me joy and make me happy!

Here are three things that make me happy:

1) the weather is changing….at least a little:))

on Friday, I opened the windows and let the 40 degree weather blow in…ahhh, loved it!!!  OK, they were only open for about 10 minutes, but fresh air of that lovely temperature is delightful:))

2) we can actually see grass in some areas now…not in the front, but in the back where the afternoon sun shines strongest there are spots of grass….it’s nice to see you again:)

3) melting snow this weekend and now …until Wednesday… when 4-6 inches of that white stuff that we’re sick of will fall again!!! Arghhhh…..sorry! I will appreciate the sun and warmth while it’s here  :)

The Beauty ? of Winter

Today the temperature is higher than it has been in quite some time….however, that seems to equal sleet, slush, sloppy snow and rain….ewww!

So instead, I’ll share some pretty pics of SNOW!

yes, that is a car under that snow!

Making myself positive, even through all this snow….because it is occasionally beautiful!!

But also….very ready for spring :)

Beautiful things, exciting things, inspiring ones…I’ll share with you those things that bring me joy and make me happy!

Here are three things that make me happy:

1) Frozen lake, then more snow, then it starts to melt…and this beautiful blue color appears!

photos just can't capture the color...

2) the guys and girls gave me a wine tasting for Christmas, and we took advantage of it last night….great place, Filipo Marc Winery! We tasted 15 different wines, with great explanations and tasty snacks. Yum!! Then we went out to dinner…great night with those favorite folks of mine:)))

Definitely Winter!

The past week in Michigan…Wow!! Definitely more like winter than usual for this time of year!!

Lots of snow…more than once…and ridiculously cold temperatures, with and without considering the wind chill factor! 14 below zero is cold even without the wind…add that in and you get 40 below!

I have been hibernating, just looking out the window. It IS beautiful, especially if the sun shines!

Here’s a peek!

the end of last week...

with the sun...

over the weekend...getting the hockey rink ready

starting to snow on Sunday

snowing

late Sunday

by Monday...below zero...

Tuesday, blowing snow and frigid

still pretty

By Wednesday, I was out and about. The high was only 11 degrees, but it felt downright balmy after the previous few days!!!

Keep safe…wherever you are!!

2) Changeable Michigan…after 85 degree days to frozen yuck and frosted over sad tulips and daffodils…the tulips popped back up and sunshine returned!

Snow!!

Lots of snow in Michigan…about 10 inches where I am!! Snowy yesterday, cold today…0 degrees this AM, but SUNNY!!  Hurray!! the temp doesn’t really matter to me if we get some of that yummy sunshine :)
Here are a few photos of the snow looking out my window:

On my way back home this afternoon into the middle of a subdivision, every house I passed had a beautiful, pristine white front yard. I sure hope they were households like mine with kids all grown and gone. Otherwise where is the evidence of snowy fun, building snowmen and throwing snow??

Doesn’t it make you want to go mess it up???  Do all of you Southern folk wish you were here…or did you get enough of your own weird weather in the last couple of weeks??
Have fun with your kids…inside or out!!

Winter Fun

The past few Sassy Kids blogs have been about chores, scheduling, and checklists, so today let’s have some FUN!!

winter is fun

Winter gives all of us a chance to get outside and have some fun with our kids. From the time children are very young, they have a fascination with snow-watching it, tasting it, and playing in it. So: put down that laundry and that dusting cloth, step away from the computer and your emails, and involve yourself in some great family memories.

Little ones love making snow angels, and they love it even more if their parents get down in the snow with them to show them how to make “big” angels :)
snow angels got smushed!

As your children get older, show them how to ice skate or just slide on the ice in their boots–always keeping safety in mind. The whole point here is doing things with your kids.

Have the family make snowmen together. Talk about how they should look and what to add to them. Making forts is always a winner, too! Remember to take photos!

same winter…..different snowmen!

Taking the family on a nature hike in the winter is something the kids can really get into. They love finding animal tracks, watching for their homes, hearing the quiet sounds of nature, and interacting outside as a family.

getting ready for a hike

Back home in your front yard, make a “duck, duck, goose” track in the snow. Your family can play the game with or without extra people!

You will never regret the extra time you spend with your children-at every age level. All of it is precious. Enjoy it all!!
